How to choose residential basic lighting
A practical checklist to match fixtures, color temperature and mounting to each room.
1. Start with the room function
Living rooms and bedrooms need soft, even ambient light; kitchens, studies and bathrooms need brighter, clearer task light. Use panel lights or downlights as the base layer, then add accent fixtures only where needed.
2. Pick the right color temperature
Warm white 2700–3000K relaxes living and sleeping areas; neutral 3500–4000K suits task spaces. A 2700–4000K tunable range lets one fixture family serve the whole home. See the room guide below.
3. Check CRI and flicker
Choose CRI>80 (ideally CRI>90) so colors look true, and flicker-free drivers to protect eyesight during evening use - both are standard on JUNENG residential lines.
4. Choose surface or recessed mounting
