LED light strips are inevitably prone to defects in production, and repairing defective LED light strips is a matter that requires special attention. Because LED light strips are easily scrapped due to improper operation during maintenance.
1. Anti static electricity
Because LEDs are static sensitive components, if anti-static measures are not taken when repairing LED strips, the LEDs will burn out and cause waste. It should be noted that anti-static soldering irons must be used, and maintenance personnel must also take anti-static measures (such as wearing anti-static rings and gloves)
2. Continuous high temperature
The two important components of LED strip, LED and FPC, are products that cannot withstand high temperatures continuously. If the FPC is continuously exposed to high temperatures or exceeds its temperature tolerance, it will cause the FPC cover film to bubble, directly leading to the scrapping of the LED strip. At the same time, LEDs cannot withstand high temperatures continuously, and their chips will be burned out by high temperatures over time. Therefore, the soldering iron used for repairing LED light strips must be a temperature controlled soldering iron, limiting the temperature within a certain range and prohibiting arbitrary changes and settings. Furthermore, even so, it is important to note that the soldering iron should not stay on the LED pins for more than 10 seconds during maintenance. If this time is exceeded, it is likely to burn out the LED chip.
3. Short circuit
Many LED strip defects are caused by short circuits at the pins, and the true cause of the defect must be identified before repair. Otherwise, if the defective LED is replaced rashly, it will continue to cause the chip of the LED to be broken down by short-circuit current when powered on again. So, before replacing a new LED, it is important to first identify the root cause of the problem and prescribe the right medicine to achieve twice the result with half the effort.
