High luminous efficiency
The luminous efficiency of LED itself has reached over 130lm/W, so the overall luminous efficiency of LED ceiling lights can reach 100lm/W. And this efficiency is still increasing every year. It is estimated that by 2020, the luminous efficiency of LED itself will reach 240lm/W. High light efficiency means energy conservation. According to the actual test results, an 8W LED can replace a 32W ceiling light. Electric power can be saved by more than 4 times.
Long lifespan
The lifespan of LED is 100000 hours. After being made into a lighting fixture, the recognized lifespan is at least 30000 hours. High quality ones can reach 50000 hours, which is more than 10 times longer than fluorescent lamps. Even if the lifespan of the highest three color fluorescent lamp is 10000 hours, it is still more than 5 times longer.
Free from toxic substances such as mercury
When everyone is concerned about the high luminous efficiency and energy-saving advantages of LED light sources, a very important advantage of LED lighting - mercury free - is often overlooked. We know that mercury is an extremely toxic substance, but almost all high-efficiency electric light sources used before 2012 contain mercury (mercury), whether it is common fluorescent lamps, compact energy-saving lamps, high-pressure mercury, metal halide lamps, etc.
Mercury has a very low boiling point and can evaporate at room temperature. After a discarded light source is broken, it immediately emits mercury vapor to the surrounding area, which can instantly increase the mercury concentration in the surrounding air to 10-20 milligrams per cubic meter, exceeding the national maximum allowable concentration of mercury in the air (0.01 milligrams per cubic meter) by 1000 to 2000 times. According to a study on mercury by Stanford University in the United States, 1 milligram of mercury is enough to contaminate 5454.5 kilograms of drinking water, making it unsafe to drink. The consequences of air and water pollution caused by mercury are very serious. When consumed by aquatic organisms, CH3Hg is produced, which is a highly toxic substance that can be fatal with just half a spoonful. Mercury itself can damage the central nervous system, and its effects on reproductive defects are also very serious. Mercury can also damage the kidneys and liver, and under sufficient dosage conditions, it can even lead to death. Mercury can be transferred in different ways in soil, water, even the atmosphere and food chain. Therefore, persistence, easy migration, and high bioaccumulation make mercury one of the most concerning environmental pollutants globally. The most serious mercury poisoning incident in history is undoubtedly the Minamata disease in Japan, which resulted in hundreds of deaths due to mercury pollution of the water in Minamata Bay. Since 2013, the Japanese government has learned a lesson by requiring all discarded fluorescent lamps to undergo toxic substance treatment, thereby requiring those who purchase ordinary fluorescent lamps to pay double the price in advance for the toxic substance treatment fee.
